Dear Disciples of the Atlantic Mission Region,
The Atlantic Mission Region Council would like to invite everyone in the region to our second annual “Lutheran Week Light”, which includes the annual Theological Conference on Thursday, October 9, and our annual Atlantic Mission Region Convocation on Friday, October 10 – Saturday, October 11. ALL events will be held at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church (2086 Parkview Ave), Abington, PA. There will be a virtual option for both the Theological Conference and the Convocation for those who would prefer. The links will be sent a few days before the events only to those who register for the virtual option. You may select which event(s) you would like to attend – you may attend them all or only one or two. It’s up to you!
In celebration of the 1700th anniversary of the Council of Nicea, this year’s Theological Conference on Thursday will feature Dr. Alex Pierce, professor at the North American Lutheran Seminary, who will present a day-long theological deep dive entitled St Augustine and the Legacy of Nicene Orthodoxy for the Church Today. Both clergy and lay are welcome.
Friday and Saturday’s Convocation theme for this year is “Rejoice In Hope: Raising our Youth as Jesus’ Disciples in an Unfriendly Digital Culture” Featuring: Mr. Jeffrey Johnson from Focus on the Family and The Rev Bradley Hales from Reformation LC , Culpeper, VA. The Rev. Dr. Daniel Selbo (Bishop of the NALC) will be joining us and will be the featured preacher at Saturday’s Eucharist. The Rev. Dr. Bill White (Assistant to the Bishop, Eastern Area) will also be with us. The featured Ministry Partner this year will be The Awaken Project. https://www.theawakenprojectmn.com/
Friday morning will include an informal Bible study led by the Rev. Bradley Hales for anyone interested in participating.
Friday morning will also feature the annual Women’s Conference. This year’s theme is “Take heart, daughter, your faith has made you well” (Luke 8:48) This year the women will be assembling health kits and feminine products for Disaster Response as well as enjoying their own Bible study and fellowship. Please pass on this information to the women of your congregation.
This year we are once again asking that you please download and/or print all the business meeting documents and bring them to the Convocation. These documents will be emailed to all registered participants several weeks before the Convocation. Please preview all of them before the Convocation so we may save time at the business meeting.
